Azov
Created as part of the ongoing project “Pixel, Memory and Mosaic,” the work is dedicated to the Ukrainian Azov Battalion and the defence of Mariupol and the Azovstal steel plant. The composition reflects the experience of war, siege and resistance, as well as the dramatic transformation of the southern coastline of the Azov Sea — much of which is currently under Russian occupation. Through fragmented modular forms resembling living structures, roots or defensive formations, the artist evokes the persistence of human presence within devastated landscapes. Red accents function as signs of danger, sacrifice and alertness, while connecting linear elements suggest fragile communication and solidarity. By translating the logic of digital pixels into physical material, the work becomes a memorial image — a constructed field of memory where personal grief, collective trauma and national identity intersect. It speaks about endurance, loss and the ongoing struggle to preserve cultural and territorial integrity.
